Sports - November 2009
It feels like the start of a new season at Sporting Goods Business. We have that determined stride of a team running out onto the pitch in their new kit for the first time, with that sense of optimism that comes when embarking on a new campaign.
With this issue of SGB we are introducing a revamped cover and a variety of new editorial features, and we are also previewing the results of our in-depth survey of independent sports retailers. The survey has been a fantastic way for us to keep in touch with the trade, and it has given us a wealth of material to report, analyse and debate.
We are particularly pleased with one pointer that has come out of our survey, which shows that Sporting Goods Business is the UK's most widely read sports retail trade title. Our survey shows that 78.7% of sports retailers read SGB, which is 11.4% higher than the nearest challenger. Thank you for your enduring support.
Putting together SGB is a team effort, but a lot of credit for the magazine's popularity must go to former editor Jon Bruford, who is now concentrating his talents on our ‘other half', SGB Outdoor. Jon established SGB as the most progressive title in the sports retail trade, and the evolution of the title will continue.
