SUPERNOVA
The warmest bag in the range, the Supernova 5000 received the Novel Sleeping Bag award at this year’s Outdoor Trade Show. Retailing at £90, it’s a five-season synthetic sleeping bag which features Vango’s latest innovation for 2010, the Thermal Embrace System [TES], plus Insulate Aero hollow fibre insulation to help trap air to increase insulation.
The TES system allows the sleeping bag to hug your body whilst allowing freedom of movement thanks to the elasticised thread in the lining, reducing the amount of air around the body to offer maximum insulation and warmth.
The Omega-shaped Supernova features a four-season 3000 model (£80) and three/four-season 1000 model (£70) which also benefit from TES and other Supernova features including a Polair RSN Shell and Polair mini-RSN lining, aluminised reflective interlining, four-panel 3D hood with insulated face baffle and an insulated shoulder and zip baffle.
VIPER
Updated for 2010, Viper bags now also feature the TES system and share the same lining and shell materials as the Supernova range. The Viper range now uses 90/10 580+ fill power down to insulate the body and uses omega shaping with an arrow foot to minimise heat loss.
Advanced Trapezoidal Construction ensures that the down does not move around and slows down heat loss using trapezoidal baffles. The updated Vipers now also benefit from a 4 panel 3D hood, with insulated face baffle, a shoulder and zip baffle and a multi cord hood, all aimed at maintaining warmth.
The Viper range is available in three/four-season 500 model (£110), a four-season 750 model (£140) and a five-season 1000 model (£170).
