Intersport strengthens African ties
Intersport has struck a sponsorship deal with three famous African football nations, in collaboration with Puma. The international retail chain will sponsor Ghana, the Ivory Coast and Cameroon during 2010, which will coincide with the Africa Cup of Nations early in the year, and then the World Cup in the summer.
“Intersport is proud to be the sponsor of Ghana, Ivory Coast and Cameroon until the end of the 2010 World Cup,” says Franz Julien, CEO of Intersport International Corporation. “Through this partnership, Intersport further strengthens its position as the world-leading retailer in football.”
* The three latest retailers to join the Intersport group in 2009 are Clubsport of Marches, mid-Wales, with seven stores; John Henry Sports and John Moore Sports in Bath. Intersport general manager Barry Mellis said: “We retain our appetite for controlled expansion and an ambition to continue building a strong and sustainable community of retailers and take our place as the leading buying group brand.”
