Brooks recently scored a success with a Runner’s World USA Editor’s Choice award for the Ghost 3 neutral running shoe; UK Sales Manager Martin Exley explains more about the shoe and the company’s ethos

Brooks only produce running shoes and running apparel – no football, tennis or any other sports; they are focused entirely on the run. They supply specialist running stores and sports stores who are able to back up sales with the knowledge and know-how that ensure customers purchase the best possible shoes for their particular needs and gait. The Brooks team on the road support stockists with full technical training and a range of promotions such as shoe party days and group runs. During the in-house events they work the shop floor with store staff giving advice on all aspects of running and sharing their knowledge of Brooks products, plus gleaning essential feedback from that all-important brand wearer.

For a bit of fun Brooks introduced a national lace race competition last year to bring a little light relief to the industry. All Brooks stockists are asked to enter their staff into a competition to lace a Brooks Adrenaline GTS in the quickest time possible; the two finalists being invited to an all-expenses-paid, glittering Final held in Brighton, the night before the Brooks Brighton 10K. Last year’s winner, David Newman of Runners Need, picked up a cheque for £500 for having the fastest fingers in the business! Brooks might be serious when it comes to designing and selling highly technical running products, but fun is an important part of the Brooks way of life, the company slogan being ‘Run Happy’. This Brooks ethos seems to serve them well, as the company has seen growth, even during these tough economic times.

Brooks Ghost 3

For autumn 2010 Brooks has launched a much-modified version of its Ghost running shoe. The specialist running brand wanted to redefine where it sat with its mid-priced neutral category shoe and saw the new Ghost 3 as an ideal opportunity to broaden its appeal.

The shoe offers a variety of runners across the neutral spectrum bounce and balance thanks to generous cushioning and inherent stability. The updated style features an improved forefoot and flex groove pattern, caterpillar crash pad for the ultimate heel-to-midfoot transition, an upper that envelops the foot for a fit that feels custom, and eye-popping colors and on-trend gradient detailing.

Runner’s World USA were so impressed they have just awarded it ‘Editors Choice’ in their Autumn Shoe Guide. “It’s still light and zippy while being supportive enough to protect your legs on long runs,” stated the Runner’s World review of the Ghost 3, adding that testers enjoyed the shoe’s snug fit through the heel and midfoot.

The Ghost 3 also features Brooks’ environmentally-friendly full-length BioMoGo midsole, as well as HydroFlow in the heel and forefoot for enhanced midsole cushioning. Additionally, the neutral performance running shoe includes the brand’s anatomically contoured Profile sockliner, as well as moisture-managing Element linings. The Ghost 3 has an RRP of £85.
