Precision Goalkeeping sees World Cup action
Precision Goalkeeping have signed England Blind Football International, Lewis Skyers who has been selected as one of the two authorised sighted goalkeepers for England’s bid in the World Championship campaign, which kicked off last month. The Malvern Town keeper will be wearing Precision Goalkeeping’s new Supersoft Roll gloves and padded shorts throughout the tournament.
Raising goalkeeping standards
A number of England’s top goalkeepers have joined forces to launch a string of goalkeeping schools with the aim of raising standards of goalkeeping in the UK. GK Icon will open 22 centres this month in centres including Cardiff, Gateshead, Manchester, Birmingham, Watford and Barnet. The multi-disciplinary training programmes will range from three to thirty-six weeks, and tailor made courses will also be available. There will also be GK Icon Goalkeeping camps running in the school holidays.
ACA Sports add new retail partners
Online sports retailer, ACA Sports, has been appointed official retail partners of Dunfermline Athletic, marking the club’s 125th anniversary season. A new on-line retail shop is stocking a full range of club merchandise, apparel and official clothing. The company has also signed a partnership deal with Stirling Albion, the first club in the UK to be wholly owned by fans.
Amanda Beard qualifies for major championship
Following her retirement from competitive swimming a year ago, Amanda Beard, who has renewed her sponsorship deal with swim products company, Aquasphere, has qualified for the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships after coming second place in the 2010 US Swimming Nationals.
Mars Refuel offer funds for clubs
The Mars Refuel Drink Fund has £10,000 to donate to clubs and individuals in the UK and Ireland in need of a funding boost offering support with anything from equipment costs, to improving training grounds and club-houses. The fund is also open to individuals raising money for charity through sporting activities, such as bike rides, mountain climbing and parachute jumps. Applications for the £500 awards can be made online until October 31st 2010.
Germany’s biggest stadium goes cashless
The biggest stadium in Germany has gone cashless, thanks to payment solution AG and the installation of their premier system justpay. Borussia Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park will have a fully integrated cashless system for the 2010/11 season. Said to be the most modern payment system in Europe, it allows fans to create a virtual profile and top up their card online before entering the stadium.
