Half-time Hairdryer – January 21, 2011
My sporting weekend will consist of non-league football, boxing and maybe a little walking
I’ve just realised I’ve got quite a busy sporting weekend.
First I’m off to the Kent coast tomorrow (January 22) to watch Margate FC take on Hastings United in the Ryman Premier League.
I’m expecting it to be cold and miserable, especially as the last few times I’ve gone to watch The Gate it’s been pretty atrocious.
Luckily, the half-time feed-up makes up for it in part. I’m particularly looking forward to a ‘burger puff’, a nice pastry lattice encasing a ¼ pounder, cheese slice and scalding tomato sauce. That should warm me up nicely.
On Sunday (January 23), I’m off to Ilford to watch a family friend, Sam Cantwell (Rumble's Boxing Academy), take on Sheldon Purdy in the final of the ABA novice championship. They will go toe-to-toe for the Class A title at 48kg.
This will be my first time attending a boxing match of any sort, and although I don’t expect it to be anywhere near like the Las Vegas cauldrons I’ve seen on televised fights and watched in movies, I expect it to be a good contest.
I might even try and squeeze in some walking over the weekend, especially if I do eat a burger puff or two.
Until next time,
