Trixter Xdream interactive fitness bikes installed at 36 Virgin Active Health Clubs across the UK, as interest in 'exergaming' grows
Trixter Xdream interactive fitness bikes are now available in 36 Virgin Active Health Clubs, taking them into 165 sites across the UK.
Trixter Xdream equipment combines a fitness bike and a screen mounted in front of the handlebars. The bike acts as the controller for the interactive riding display on the screen, allowing riders to enjoy multiple courses and challenges while cycling.
Trixter said the patented laterally-moving handlebars, which also add an upper body and core workout to 55 per cent more calories than a standard exercise bike, allow users to negotiate corners and obstacles.
Trixter Xdream bikes are also being installed in Virgin Active Health Clubs in Spain, Portugal and Australia.
Virgin Active head of product Andy Birch said: “Our members get so involved with the virtual ride that they don't realise how hard they've been working until they finish.
“Rather than just being another bit of kit, the Xdream bikes bring our members together. They race each other and enjoy their workouts together, lifting the whole atmosphere on the gym floor. Each bike provides detailed usage analysis which gives a unique insight into how our members use the equipment.”
