Tennis: Head’s up on Innegra
Head UK racket sports manager Andy Catchpole tells SGB Sports about the new YouTek IG Speed and IG Extreme family of tennis rackets, which feature the new Innegra technology.
Head has just launched the new YouTek IG Speed and YouTek IG Extreme racket families which feature, besides the dynamic d3o material, a brand new technology called Innegra.
Innegra is the world’s lightest highperformance fibre. Its extreme toughness together with Head’s advanced carbon composite technology leads to a novel ultra-tough hybrid composite. The new Head Innegra hybrid composite structure is integrated into the racket for shock absorption and improved stability. As a result vibrations are reduced by up to 17 per cent on ball impact for unique control and precision. This protects the player from the forces of ball impact.
On top of this, Head’s new hybrid composite structure with ultra-tough Innegra fibre considerably extends the performance of Head rackets, meaning the rackets remain longer in the perfect condition without losing any of their great properties.
The Extreme family of rackets includes the YouTek IG Extreme Pro, YouTek IG Extreme MP and YouTek IG Extreme Elite. All come in a black/yellow colour scheme, a 16/19 string pattern and measure 27” in length. The Extreme Elite has the largest head size at 660 sq cm, but is the lightest at 275g. The Extreme Pro and MP rackets suit L3 swing styles, while the Extreme Elite suits an S2 swing style.
The Speed family numbers four, with the YouTek IG Speed Pro, YouTek IG Speed MP, YouTek IG Speed Elite and YouTek IG Speed Lite available. Available in black/white, weights range from 335g to 260g, with head sizes varying from 630-660 sq cm. The Speed racket family suits different swing styles, from L5 to S2.
There is also a YouTek IG Speed Junior for younger players, weighing 245g, measuring 26” and offering a 660 sq cm head size. It is suited to a neutral swing style, and is also available in a black/white colour scheme.
