Running shoe brand makes decision to close European operation; Somnio Inc. USA remains to ‘keep the company open in America’
Shoe brand Somnio is closing its European operation with immediate effect due to production and delivery issues.
A statement from a source at Somnio Europe AG read: “Due to insurmountable production and delivery issues we have not been able to fulfil our orders.
“Our shoes were meant to ship 01/01/2011 and at this point we are still waiting for product to arrive with no current resolution on the horizon, and we have been unable to keep going under these circumstances.”
The Somnio UK website includes details of 16 running shoes, all of which are listed as ‘out of stock’. There are no details as yet of the impact on the retail community of the decision by Somnio to pull out of Europe.
The source added: “Somnio Inc. USA is still moving forward with the view to keeping the company open in America.”
