Sports brand says corruption debate is bad for football and FIFA’s partners
Adidas has said the ongoing corruption scandal within football’s world governing body, FIFA, is damaging for the game and the organisation’s partners.
The sportswear brand is a long-standing partner of FIFA, but has been left concerned by allegations of vote rigging and bribery within FIFA.
FIFA’s presidency is also up for contest tomorrow (June 1). Questions are being asked as to whether incumbent Sepp Blatter should go up for the job uncontested for a fourth term under the cloud of the current investigations.
In a statement, Adidas said: “The negative tenor of the public debate is neither good for the sport of football nor for FIFA as an institution and its partners.”
