Prostar to regain ground with retailers
Mitre and Prostar to work strategically to grow latter’s reputation within the retail community
Grassroots football brand Prostar is working to regain its reputation with the retail community after joining the Pentland Group last year and starting on a strategic partnership with Mitre.
Mitre, also a part of the Pentland Group, and Prostar will share a number of corporate functions going forward, although they will continue to be marketed as separate brands to the consumer.
A spokesperson said this will see the two share functions such as sales and marketing, with retailers receiving product brochures containing both lines.
In addition, Mitre is taking a step back from the apparel market, where Prostar is traditionally strong, and Prostar will move away from offering equipment that Mitre has a strong heritage in, such as balls.
The spokesperson said Prostar had suffered with stock availability prior to joining Pentland, which had hindered its relationships with the independent retail community. This has now changed, they said, with stock readily available for delivery into store.
“We’ve got a job to do but we’re working to restore faith in Prostar within the retail community,” the spokesperson said.
