One lucky punt on a 10/1 horse and all my previous losses were recouped
I had the pleasure of spending Saturday at Epsom Downs racecourse to enjoy the spectacle that is the Derby.
I’ve been to Epsom a few times (I’ve even been to a couple of their music events) and it has to be said that spending a Saturday afternoon on The Hill with the partying masses takes some beating.
I’m not the best when it comes to betting though, although that doesn’t stop me being reckless from time-to-time. While my fellow racegoers were putting £1 E/W or £2 on the nose, I was more inclined to go for the big win.
This failed impressively all day, although my Derby horse, Memphis Tennessee, was leading the pack with only 1.5 furlongs to go. According to Reuters, ‘frontrunning Memphis Tennessee held a six-length lead turning into the straight’. Luckily my fair lady had the foresight to back Pour Moi so that saved my bacon in that race.
It was the race after though that I came good. £10 on a 10/1 horse called Fox Hunt made sure I headed home a happy boy.
