Ball manufacturer launches pink basketball in response to demand from growing number of female players
Molten has unveiled a new pink basketball to meet demand from the growing number of female players joining the sport.
The G-series ball is available in size six only, and manufactured using a special rubber compound that Molten said gives the ball a tacky feel. The 12-panel design also uses a deep pebble surface to enhance grip, while the additional seams, as compared to an eight-panel ball, help improve shooting and passing accuracy.
The pink basketball joins Molten’s collection of coloured rubber basketballs, which are available in sizes seven, six, five, three and one.
Jo Leedham, a prominent female player who represents the Great Britain women’s basketball team, said: “The Molten G-Series is a great basketball and we are thrilled Molten has brought out this unique pink ball. Women’s teams up and down the country are just going to love playing with it.”
Bob Hope, chairman of the UK & Ireland's Molten distributor, said: “Molten is introducing this new pink basketball to our popular range of rubber basketballs in response to the strong feedback we have received from the UK’s growing number of women basketball players.
“As it is the only pink basketball in the marketplace we are expecting a high uptake.”
