Something special may be in the offing down at Kingsmeadow

AFC Wimbledon have been drawn to play their first football league fixture at home against Bristol Rovers, and I for one can’t wait.

I’ve seen AFC Wimbledon play before while they journeyed up to league status. At the time, against Margate, their style of play was a bit rough round the edges and their general attitude and demeanour was quite course.

But it can’t be denied that their fan base is loyal and passionate. Wherever they were going they were setting attendance records and it is quite something to see at a small football ground.

And the opportunity to see AFC Wimbledon at home in their first full league fixture is almost an opportunity too good to miss.

I’m a big Chelsea fan as you all know, so it’s not that I’m switching allegiance, more that I think they’ve come a long way and only have further to go. A home fixture is a perfect way to start their ‘fairytale’ and I’m not sure I can avoid a trip to The Fans' Stadium, Kingsmeadow on August 6.

Until next time,
