Polar launches new runner’s aid
RCX5 heart rate monitor offers ‘performance enhancing technology’ to help runners maximise their training
Polar has launched the RCX5 heart rate monitor, which it describes as ‘a personal trainer on your wrist’.
The RCX5 is a training computer designed with runners, triathletes and endurance athletes alike to help them maximise their training. Features include ‘cutting edge’ heart rate functions, a compact GPS unit, maximised display, strong aluminium frame, easy-to-use buttons and a waterproof disturbance-free WearLink+ Hybrid transmitter.
The WearLink+ Hybrid transmitter gives heart rate data even in water, while ZoneOptimizer adjusts personal heart rate zones for every training session based on the wearer’s current condition so taking into account factors such as fatigue, recovery, hydration and general well-being.
Race Pace allows a target time for a set distance to be established and shows how far off or ahead of the pace the wearer is.
Sport Profiles can be set up to support multisport exercise, as in the case of triathlon training, by providing sport-specific data during training and allowing swift switching between different sports with the touch of a button.
The RCX5 can even be paired with the G5 GPS, a compact, cigarette lighter sized GPS unit with 18 hours battery life, which can be worn on an armband or stowed nearby to give training load data, route mapping, speed and distance.
In addition, route maps, endurance programmes and training load data can be transferred between the RCX5 and polarpersonaltrainer.com via a wireless DataLink connection.
An RCX5 with the GPS unit has an RRP of £359.50, while other packages are also available, including: RCX5 Run, which pairs the monitor with a s3+ sensor; RCX5 Bike, which includes a CS speed sensor; and RCX5 Standard, which includes a wrist monitor and a chest belt.
