Sitting between suppliers (brands) and retail outlets our aim is to offer an ever-increasing list of benefits that make the independent retailer trade more profitably and more efficiently.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Selectors to assist in harnessing the joint buying of our member stores. The role requires sports trade experience and ideally familiarity with sports trade buying seasons.
Excellent communication skills are a pre-requisite of this role, as is the ability to influence and negotiate. Applicants need to be self motivated, driven and possess the team working qualities needed to help us achieve our current growth strategy. UK and overseas travel will be required.
Key aspects of the role would be:
• Formulation of seasonal merchandise plans for the approval of the Product & Brand manager and the General Manager.
• Creating and maintaining basic core ranges of merchandise as and when appropriate.
• Selecting merchandise and negotiating prices from suppliers and IIC.
• Developing ranges on ʻExclusive Branded Productsʼ(EBP) from IIC and maximising margin opportunities for INTERSPORT members.
• Monitoring and developing the EBP stockline business in conjunction with the Product & Brand Manager..
• Creating merchandise critical path for all deliveries to ensure that orders are chased and deliveries are made on time to correct order quantities.
• Researching new merchandise and assessing new sources of supply for reliability and potential.
• Experience of importing would be advantageous.
