Independents to receive July 4 boost
‘Independents' Day 2011’ on July 4 to celebrate independent retailers around the UK
Independent retailers will receive a boost next Monday (July 4), with Skillsmart Retail and the National Skills Academy for Retail teaming up to promote independent retailers.
Dubbed ‘Independents’ Day’, consumers will be encouraged to buy at least one item from an independent retailer on July 4 in order to ‘celebrate diversity on the high street’.
The campaign says: “We will…champion the skills great independent retailers have and show the public that their local shopkeeper is not only a vital service, but someone who wears many hats; they are the accountant, sales assistant, buyer and often everything in-between.”
Independents and shoppers alike are being invited to download the ‘Independents’ Day’ poster from www.skillsmartretail.com to help promote the event, upload the event banner to their websites or support the movement on Facebook.
