Goalkeeping line looking for next big star to carry brand forward in the UK
Goalkeeping brand Reusch is on the lookout for a big-name goalkeeper playing in the UK to help carry the brand forward and increase its presence in the market.
The company's Bob Fidler said Reusch is a bigger star on the continent and around the world thanks to tie-ins with the likes of Inter Milan shot-stopper Julio Cesar and AC Milan duo Dida and Christian Abbiati.
“We are looking to sign up a big name in the UK,” Fidler said at the recent Intersport Q1 2012 show. “Our last big name in the UK was Peter Schmeichel and when he retired our sales took a hit, so we are on the lookout for our next star in the UK.”
Rival goalkeeping range Precision Goalkeeping has signed up a number of young goalies to wear its gloves, including Kasper Schmeichel, son of Peter, and Keiren Westwood, who is to play in the Premier League next season after signing for Sunderland.
