Running brand sponsors TV coverage of IAAF World Athletics Championships
Asics is sponsoring Channel 4’s coverage of the IAAF World Athletics Championships currently taking place in Daegu, Korea.
Asics is providing idents and break bumpers for the broadcaster’s coverage of athletics event. Channel 4 will show 60 hours of live action from Daegu along with six hours of highlights which will feature Asics promotions and branding throughout.
Asics said the sponsorship further strengthens its position in the running market, building on its ‘long-term involvement with athletics’ and adding to its sponsorship of the BUPA Great Run Series, which was announced in June. Asics sponsored athletes competing at the event include Jenny Meadows (800m), Helen Clitheroe (5000m) and Lee Merrien (marathon).
Asics UK managing director Barry Mellis said: “The World Championships are the highlight of this year’s athletics calendar and the coverage of the event from Channel 4 is set to be fantastic.
“Asics is known as the runner’s choice in the UK and this sponsorship is a way of further cementing that with our target audience.”
The IAAF World Athletics Championships are due to conclude on Sunday (September 4).
