You are in:
First Words
It is a privilege to introduce myself to you as the new editor of SGB Sports.
As an introduction, my background is fairly untypical to the sports industry having studied politics at university and subsequently working in a variety of political PR roles.
However, as a young whippersnapper I worked as a sports retail assistant for Sweatshop so I feel I can put this experience to good use, now being on the other side of the fence so to speak!
My two main passions are writing and sport. To be able to combine the two in this role is one I am very excited about! My sporting background is of both playing and spectating. I currently play for the Mote Cricket Club in the Kent League and frequently play against county professionals, usually coming off second best! Aside from this, I am an avid follower of the mighty Charlton Athletic- yes I know someone has to!
In the coming months, I have strong ambitions for the magazine. Shortly SGB will undertake a facelift but retaining what has cemented us as a respected figure in the industry- that of industry- leading news, features and strong editorially driven analysis.
I look foward to seeing some of you at the STAG show on the 20-21 November and if you see me please introduce yourself and feel free to chew my ear off about any issues you feel we as SGB should be focusing on.
Have a great month.
Alex Fordham, editor, SGB Sports
