Backed on brand power of global retail franchise Intersport, a new sports business takes to the high street this autumn. From September, Intersport Sporting Pro will open its doors and will launch with 15 initial stores nationwide. An online platform www.sportingpro.co.uk will launch simultaneously.
The venture will attract nearly 400 employees countrywide and will focus on the specialist knowledge of its team to engage with the sporting enthusiasm of the consumer
Intersport Sporting Pro is committed to promoting active lifestyle; encouraging sports participation for individuals as well as the development of school and grassroots activities and team sports. The stores will include a strong focus on women's specific product alongside specialist attention on fitness and running, offering gait analysis and custom fit insoles. There will be nets in store for cricket, hockey and golf practise.
The chain is headed up by former JJB chief executive Tom Knight: “More people participate in some form of sport than ever before; whether it’s to encourage a healthier lifestyle or playing at competition level. Intersport Sporting Pro will cater for all; all our staff will be fully trained and knowledgeable in their field to help and advise our customers on their sport requirements.”
Intersport Sporting Pro customers can expect a broad brand selection from core sports footwear and apparel brands including Nike, adidas, New Balance, Asics, Reebok, Under Armour, Canterbury and Onitsuka Tiger, alongside Intersport's authentic own label brands McKinley and ProTouch. Equipment suppliers will include Head, Babolat, Wilson, Speedo, Raleigh. Meeting the demand for a more active lifestyle approach, outdoor brands Columbia and Berghaus will feature.
Commenting on the new addition to the Intersport retail franchise portfolio, Tom Foley, general manager UK: "Intersport are delighted to have the addition of Sporting Pro to our retail portfolio. As a global operator with more than 5400 retailers in over 42 countries, we are able to support new high quality specialist ventures with a strong recognisable brand identity that underlines their sports expertise to the consumer."
Further recognising the interest resulting from London 2012, Intersport Sporting Pro has also confirmed an exclusive CSR support programme with sports legacy charity Sporting Promise. As part of its commitment, Intersport Sporting Pro is introducing a reward card scheme and will contribute 1% of all reward card transactions to sports causes in the community.
